A message from the Birmingham and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group 19th August 2020
We are pleased to confirm that the replacement Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) for Solihull will be based at Chelmsley Wood Primary Care Centre, Crabtree Drive, Chelmsley Wood B37 5BU.
The UTC will open on Monday 24 August and will operate 7 days per week, from 8.00am – 8.00pm
This is an interim location until 31 March 2021.
The key factors in making this decision were:
There is car parking and good access to public transport
Its proximity to Heartlands Hospital provides an opportunity to test the ability to redirect patients away from A&E
There is an on-site pharmacy
There is the potential to co-locate a GP out of hours service (for face-to-face appointments).
Importantly, all patients are now required to contact NHS 111 before they attend the UTC to seek advice, and if necessary, they will offered a booked appointment. The UTC will not accept ‘walk-in’ patients. This is to ensure the centre does not become overcrowded and strict infection prevention measures can be adhered to.
